Prelude
Chimes of the Hour Welcome/Announcements Introit Call to Worship Pastor: How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity! Congregation: It is like the precious oil on the head, running down upon the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down over the collar of his robes. Pastor: It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion. Congregation: For there the Lord ordained his blessing, life forevermore. Pastor: Come, let us all worship and bow down together, Congregation: let us kneel together before the Lord, our maker. Pastor: For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, the sheep of his hand. Hymn Call to Confession Our God has called us to live in unity with each other and with our brothers and sisters around the world. But our sins make it hard for us to sense the love of Christ that binds us together. Let us therefore approach God in faith and humility, confessing our sins. Prayer of Confession (in unison) God of grace, we grieve that the church, which shares one Spirit, one faith, one hope, and one calling, has become a divided communion in a divided world. The one body of Christ spans all times, places, races, and languages, but in our fear we have fled from one another and fought against our own, and in our pride we have mistaken our part for the whole. Yet we marvel that you gather the broken pieces to do your work, that you bless us with joy, with growth, and with signs of unity. Forgive our sins and help us to commit ourselves to seeking and showing the unity of the body of Christ. In his name, Amen. Kyrie Assurance of Pardon Pastor: In Jesus Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting our sins against us. Jesus Christ is God with us. He is the eternal Word of the Father who became flesh and lived among us to fulfill the work of reconciliation. He is present in the church by the power of the Holy Spirit to continue and complete his mission. Therefore, the church calls all people to be reconciled to God and to one another. Congregation: Thanks be to God! Gloria Passing the Peace Pastor: Christ has given us peace that surpasses all understanding. The peace of Christ be with you! Congregation: The peace of Christ be with you also! Prayer for Illumination Scripture Liturgist: Hebrews 1:1-4, 2:5-12 Liturgist: The Word of the Lord! Congregation: Thanks be to God! Pastor: Mark 10:2-16 Pastor: The Gospel of the Lord! Congregation: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ! Sermon: All Things Affirmation of Faith I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Hymn Sharing our Joys and Concerns Prayers of the People The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen. Offering/Music Doxology Prayer of Dedication Invitation to the Lord’s Table Great Thanksgiving Pastor: The Lord be with you.
